Work day #3
It's been awesome spending this much time with all these awesome people. We've stressed together, sweated together, laughed together (a lot), and some of us have cried. I am so proud of the kids and the example that they are to the other students. I love all of this but I am ready to go home and see my wife and play with my son.
It's kind of sobering to think that I've been away from my son for about a week and I miss him soooooo much. I was walking away from my father in heaven for the first seventeen years of my life. What a pain that ,it's have been. I praise him for finally drawing me to Him.

It was such a blessing to see our youth come together and work with the Paradox Youth! Today we all had the task of painting the outside wall that had been being prepped the last two days. it was amazing to see the work of many hands make the task a little easier! These youth really are being the hands and feet of Jesus! We were able to finish a little early today to take showers and then head up to the Smokey Mountains. We we to Cade's Cove, which is known for see wild animals. We were able to see 5 black Bears, 2 deer and many birds. Some of the bears were a ways a way and others were about 50 feet from us. Such a cool experience to see God's creation! It took us about two hours to get there and then three house around the park, so after being in the car for almost 7 hours we are ready to head to bed! Looking forward to seeing what God has in store for us tomorrow.

Today we all started the day off by painting the back of the building. It was a very messy and very long job! After a while of painting I headed inside to help Miguel and Rigo finish hanging up the panels on the wall. We had a few rough spots but we finished up the wall! It was a bonus because I love working with those two!

Today we were all given the task to paint the back wall of the building that I had helped scrape on Monday. It took awhile and it was pretty messy but we got it done in the end and it looks so much better!

I give all credit to painters, I will never complain about drips again. This work was harder than I thought! We thought that painting that back wall would take the amount of time from when we got there to lunch, but it took a while longer! This paint is also very hard to get off of your person, sorry mom and dad I may have a new tattoo when we get back.

All I can say about painting is: wow, that was a lot of paint! We painted almost the entire back wall, and it looks so much better now. It was very warm out and very messy, but seeing that back wall painted makes it so worth it!

Today seemed like a slower working day because we didn't finish many tasks. We did however almost finish the biggest task we were given. The past days many groups were working on cleaning the back wall. Today we started painting it, it seemed like it would be an easy task to work on but it was not. The back wall was brick. This meant that we had to paint it with a roller brush and then go back and paint over every crack and indentation in the wall. We had many people up on ladders, and many people on the ground painting as high as they could. We are almost finished with filling in all of the cracks we just have to do a little more tomorrow. When you step back and look at the wall it was a great feeling to know that you accomplished so much and are making an impact on the paradox. After we finished working we all pack into the van and headed up to the smoky mountains. We went to see bears and we were not disappointed we saw about 5 bears, 2 deer, and "a boat load a' crows" as a 7 year old boy told me when I asked if he had seen any bears yet. Today was the first time I've seen a wild bear and I was not disappointed.
*update: a few spiders were seen while hiking but none inside*
**while walking to breakfast there is a wall of windows and there was a skunk that was about 6 feet from the windows. Bill told us that since they are nocturnal it probably had rabies.... Still not sure if he was serious or not**

Heyo beloved readers of this blog! Today we all pitched in to paint the outside wall on the back of the Paradox. At first, we thought it would be a pretty easy job. But as soon as we started painting, we realized this was not the case. The back of the building was brick, which means that we couldn't just use rollers & paint it. We had to use rollers to get the paint on the wall, and then go back and fill in every little crack and cranny with paint. It was a lot of work! And we used a ton of paint! But in the end, the wall is all painted & it looks great. Instead of a nasty shade of tan, the wall is now a nice mint green, which adds a lot of color to the outside of the building. It's really cool to see all our projects starting to come together at the Paradox, and I can't wait to see the finished product! Sweating might be super gross and annoying, but seeing the Paradox come together makes it so worth it.

Our work day was shortened, but our work load increased. And I probably got more paint on myself than the wall :0 But in the end we had a really productive day! My favorite part of today was praying over Kim. Kim is an elderly lady that was diagnosed with cancer. She has no family and people at the paradox are her only friends. Tim (the "prayer warrior") felt lead to pray for her. He prayed for Kim to sleep better because he said that God put it on his heart. Later, Kim said that she really has had trouble sleeping. This was really cool to experience. Tonight she will be sleeping a lot better!

So this was a shortened day, but we had a lot more to do, but about 2 we had to have had the whole back wall of the paradox painted! But we did it, with no time to spare, but everything came together for a fun exciting hard working day!

10 gallons later and we finally finished painting the huge back wall! That was the feat of the day it took a lot of teamwork but we did it. The back of the paradox is now a bright mint green and every crack is filled with paint (we made sure of it!). The sun was glaring we were sweating but looking back on it I feel really accomplished! I think that today was a lot of fun because we got to interact with everyone from the paradox and the whole day was filled with laughter. One thing that I thought was so amazing that we got the unique opportunity to pray over a women who suffers from cancer and was just told that she has a year left we as a group got to pray with her and made her feel so loved. In all today was great! Even after a shower I'm pretty sure I still have paint on me courtesy of Julia :)
